Not everyone can top him

What can I say about a man who seemed  shy in high school but not surprisingly though achieved what most of us can only dream of -  Doc Hernani Cualing is now an accomplished oncologist. He finished Medicine from the University of the Philippines. See info about his medical education here . Also find other significant info about him here . The first time I was able to connect with him through fb, he seemed sincerely happy. Find a snippet here about that. And after a couple of chats, and fb messages,  he had graciously offered me a writing job in a book a famous U.S. publishing house will publish for him.  Of course, I accepted.. It is a privelege.. Tell you more about that later. All I can say is whoa.. success at its best..

My classmate Professor Reuel Molina Aguila.

This is a belated post about an idol, a high school classmate who's gone through everything in life - Reuel.  He was our class salututorian. He made UPCAT and together with the rest of us; Edita, the validictorian, Joy, Ofelia, Greg, Victor, Charlie, Sue, Hernani, Lito, Chuchi, Ed, Carolina sailed through the challenging UP Diliman brand of free and analytical thinking  university environment. Meanwhile, three of these classmates became firebrands. And one was Reuel. When Martial law was declared in 1972, he took to the hills to fight for what he believed in. It was a tumultuous era for students. Was it just the "in" thing? To rebel? To fight the establishment? In Reuel's case and the rest of many UP and Lyceum students, it was a fight worth fighting for. Soon,   the powerful military tentacles caught up. Reuel and a host of others were incarcerated. Fast forward, today, Reuel Aguila is now a Professor at UP Diliman; Phd candidate. Aside from this, and I was not...

Why Not Try This

Two friends sent this for me to try. There were 4 simple questions to answer. And I was really surprised at the results. I can not give more information because the test is so simple and you will have to agree with most of the results. I did. SEND THIS MANTRA TO AT LEAST FIVE PERSONS AND YOUR LIFE WILL IMPROVE. Link to this test is http://www.wordofmouthexperiment.com/dedpyhto/tests/tibetian/index.htm and all you need to do is send it to your friends. Send it by email or post it to forum or your blog- it doesn't matter, it will work  anyway.

Believe in the positive and work towards happiness, then I shall have it

A would be version of Me for 2010 according to one website: Philosophical, wise , calm and understanding, though often fickle or self-indulgent - Mostly true Elegant to the point of being ostentatious. Can behave selfishly if crossed. - Not true A Snake lady is also charming in personality - Always true She is receptive and a deep thinker and likes to judge by intuition. - Always true She is fortunate in wealth through her life. - My children are my wealth. Philosopher, theologian, political wizard, wily financier - Yes, but financier? A couple of years back, yes. The Snake person is the deepest thinker and enigma of the Chinese cycle. - Maybe true. She is endowed with an inborn wisdom of her very own; a mystic in her own right. - Can be true sometimes. Graceful and soft-spoken, she loves good books, food, music, the theater; she will gravitate toward all the finer things in life. The most beautiful women and powerful men tend to be born under this sig...

Thank you God for the good vibes

My son can finally de-stress  himself. After 18 days abroad he is now with work - something he really gave his all for.  I guess, caused him sleepless nights.   Good Ate is there. Always ready to give a helping advice, getting around tips, bringing pasalubong and treating him out every Thursdays and Fridays.  And more significant,  bringing him to Church as well on Sundays :-) God Bless you always my son. And thank you Lord for an Ate Lorraine.

My Do's and Dont's for A Fabulous 2010

At the start of the year, I was browsing horoscope sites. Just for fun, I always do this every new year, and so here I am again, smiling and grinning because the year will be fabulous for me. That is if I have to believe this feng shui site. And I quote: 1. I must not be idealistic. 2. I must strive hard to have a correct view of people and things. 3. I must not dodge the anguish that may assail me; because it is by facing them that I will achieve my serenity and optimism. 4. I must adapt my ways to my ideas. Example: when talking about thrift, I must be sure I am thrifty. 5. My health will be good. And I must continue eating healthy and well. 6. I must at all times avoid giving way to stress. I must do my physical exercise regularly and that intense physical exercise would be good for me. 7. I must watch my bladder, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen. 8. I must drink lots of water and must refrain from spicy and rich food. 9. Life with partner will be good. It will be tender, g...

A Tribute to Double Lifers

I hope that ilda will forgive me if I re-post her here. Because this post is not really about Noynoy A:  it is about   people who have managed to live double lives not successfully, albeit those who readily chose to be the double lifer's disciple(s). "Don Draper once said that people are living two lives. One life they are actually living and the other, they are secretly wishing. Considering what he said is just out of the script from the popular TV show Mad Men, we can’t really take it too seriously now, can we? Come to think about it though, Tiger Woods has proven that statement to be true. If that TV script wasn’t written before his affairs got out in the open, one would assume that it was based on him. More recently, Sandra Bullock’s husband has been outed as someone who has a secret fetish for tattooed ladettes while married to Ms Congeniality. These two are definitely poster boys for people who were living two lives! Don’t get me wrong; what people do with the...

Just three NSTP classes and 4 units of P.E. and we're good to go

Image
My son's room at Cambridge. His room served as a picture reservoir.. pictures of siblings and other family members. There's only one missing graduation picture here, if you notice. I wonder if I'll still be able to see that grad photo. Problem with 3 NSTP classes and 4 units of P.E. before they give him his college diploma. Thesis and all are finished.. Soon I hope..

A Job Offer

After 2 interviews, my son who is now based abroad received a job offer. We spoke about it and the next day after that chat he told me that he already signed up for it. He liked the job a Help Desk kind of work. Good pay, with OT pay and all additional allowances. All he is waiting for now are good results from medical and from the approval of the government. He told me he likes the job.. but might still pursue 2  interviews from a bank and another company which he didn't tell me about.. just in case, but he's hoping he will get this one. I thought he arrived there March 20 and by March 31 he got himself an offer. Not bad..With a wide smile, I salute him.. My son seems to be getting the hang of getting around his new environment :-) Those are his words.. Another good news is that he has stayed away from junk for 2 weeks now.. "it's kind of expensive here", he says and I smile (oh goody! I secretly told myself. I thank the Lord Almighty. Happy Easter Ev...
