Thank you God for the good vibes

Image
My son can finally de-stress  himself. After 18 days abroad he is now with work - something he really gave his all for.  I guess, caused him sleepless nights.   Good Ate is there. Always ready to give a helping advice, getting around tips, bringing pasalubong and treating him out every Thursdays and Fridays.  And more significant,  bringing him to Church as well on Sundays :-) God Bless you always my son. And thank you Lord for an Ate Lorraine.

My Do's and Dont's for A Fabulous 2010

At the start of the year, I was browsing horoscope sites. Just for fun, I always do this every new year, and so here I am again, smiling and grinning because the year will be fabulous for me. That is if I have to believe this feng shui site. And I quote: 1. I must not be idealistic. 2. I must strive hard to have a correct view of people and things. 3. I must not dodge the anguish that may assail me; because it is by facing them that I will achieve my serenity and optimism. 4. I must adapt my ways to my ideas. Example: when talking about thrift, I must be sure I am thrifty. 5. My health will be good. And I must continue eating healthy and well. 6. I must at all times avoid giving way to stress. I must do my physical exercise regularly and that intense physical exercise would be good for me. 7. I must watch my bladder, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen. 8. I must drink lots of water and must refrain from spicy and rich food. 9. Life with partner will be good. It will be tender, g...

A Tribute to Double Lifers

I hope that ilda will forgive me if I re-post her here. Because this post is not really about Noynoy A:  it is about   people who have managed to live double lives not successfully, albeit those who readily chose to be the double lifer's disciple(s). "Don Draper once said that people are living two lives. One life they are actually living and the other, they are secretly wishing. Considering what he said is just out of the script from the popular TV show Mad Men, we can’t really take it too seriously now, can we? Come to think about it though, Tiger Woods has proven that statement to be true. If that TV script wasn’t written before his affairs got out in the open, one would assume that it was based on him. More recently, Sandra Bullock’s husband has been outed as someone who has a secret fetish for tattooed ladettes while married to Ms Congeniality. These two are definitely poster boys for people who were living two lives! Don’t get me wrong; what people do with the...

Just three NSTP classes and 4 units of P.E. and we're good to go

Image
My son's room at Cambridge. His room served as a picture reservoir.. pictures of siblings and other family members. There's only one missing graduation picture here, if you notice. I wonder if I'll still be able to see that grad photo. Problem with 3 NSTP classes and 4 units of P.E. before they give him his college diploma. Thesis and all are finished.. Soon I hope..

A Job Offer

After 2 interviews, my son who is now based abroad received a job offer. We spoke about it and the next day after that chat he told me that he already signed up for it. He liked the job a Help Desk kind of work. Good pay, with OT pay and all additional allowances. All he is waiting for now are good results from medical and from the approval of the government. He told me he likes the job.. but might still pursue 2  interviews from a bank and another company which he didn't tell me about.. just in case, but he's hoping he will get this one. I thought he arrived there March 20 and by March 31 he got himself an offer. Not bad..With a wide smile, I salute him.. My son seems to be getting the hang of getting around his new environment :-) Those are his words.. Another good news is that he has stayed away from junk for 2 weeks now.. "it's kind of expensive here", he says and I smile (oh goody! I secretly told myself. I thank the Lord Almighty. Happy Easter Ev...

Why not?

“To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; to be credible we must be truthful.” -- Edward R. Murrow

I miss my son

Very much :-( He left to work abroad. To improve himself by discovering new worlds, new horizons, and perhaps learn new lessons in life.. I love you my son. God speed. You will always be in my prayers... Take good care. I love you.

The Ibanag's JOY

Image
She is from Lambunao, a town in  Iloilo province. We went to high school together. Her older sister was my teacher in my freshman high school; she and another sister boarded with us when she went to college in UP. We all stayed in one room and we were really like sisters. Along the way, so many unexpected things happened. After finishing her degree,  she found herself going back to Iloilo to teach at the UP Visayas. That was the last thing I heard about Joy. We totally lost contact. That's Joy and her lovely family. Over the years, I would hear snippets about her but details weren't exactly  enough to make an initial connection, until the internet. It's now almost 40 years. Just like my other friends, like Sue  fate smiled and through social networking sites like facebook, Joy somehow found us again. This was her initial message to me: "Hi Lou, bestfriend! I have been thinking of u. I was in Manila last Christmas and Ning and I were wondering how to find you. ...

Having the time of my life with my BFF and FBF (facebook forever)

Image
I am having the time of my life in facebook. I got this account way back in 2008 but did nothing about it. Today though, I have grown so addicted.. It's the first thing I do after my morning rituals. My relationship with facebook grew fonder when I thought that it could be a  tool to find friends,  I have not seen in ages. True  enough with a little diligence we are now finding each other, one day at a time.  The  re-connections has been for me,  a  powerful feeling of camarederie, of friendship and  of love.  High school friends, college classmates, long lost relatives and acquaintances, the link has been re-established. It is not surprising that almost everyone is on facebook, I suppose there's this desire for  people to re-bond.. to re-connect if you will.  After all life is really short.  Sue was the first friend I found after searching and searching.  Sue - that's how I called her 40 years ago. That long already? An...
